Dive #325: Met up with Dan for a morning dip at Cathedral. The water was incredibly warm at the surface, so we had to descend a little bit to cool off from the gear hauling in the humidity. Viz was pretty good - I'd say probably 15-20' as we cruised down the slope. We continued to descend until we hit almost exactly 60' and then I heard Dan laughing in his regulator. I turned around to see his reel was empty! We both pulled off all the bolts and ropes we had attached to us so squeeze a few more feet out, but that was the end of our descent. We headed south along the slope and hit a fairly strong current, which we continued into. We ascended a bit and it let up. I spotted a few flounder, some good sized lobsters, and eventually some scarlet psolus, which I always enjoy. Throughout the dive, we hit a variety of mini-currents - some pushing us up the slope, some pushing us down the slope, some pushing us north, some pushing us south. All in all, an interesting dive. We made our way back and surfaced a little ways south of our exit, but Dan found a HUGE jellyfish right at the surface. It looks like it might have been a lion's mane, but it was pretty beat up.
