Given my past experience with parking tickets, I dropped my gear and parked at the top of the hill on South St. After putting on my drysuit, walking 10 minutes back to the site and gearing up, I hopped in and joined the others. We ended up wandering around in inside the cove for a max depth of 12 feet. With the shallow depth and bright sunshine, we were treated with some awesome colors and low air consumption. There were a few flounders around, an amazingly camouflaged sculpin (coralline algae splotches), and a few nudis sticking around for us. Dan found a massive softball-sized hermit crab, which was easily the biggest I've ever seen up here. I also spotted a large worm barely sticking out of the sand, which I was able to identify as a clam worm after seeing a more exposed one on the second dive. Dan found a nudi neither of us had seen before which I think was a Tenellia viridis - it was tucked in some weeds and we had some surge, so neither of us managed to get a great shot. Nice dive! The guys decided they were done for the day, so I headed out with Kim and Audrey for the second shift. We set our compasses for the lighthouse and cruised the cove for a nice, casual, shallow dive. I totally could have squeezed another dive out of my first tank, but I was in a bit of a rush so I swapped. We spotted several portly spider crabs, some small nudis (dotos and doris), and several flounder. I tried to get some shots of comb jellies up in the water column, but that was challenging as usual. Another nice dive!
