Tiny Rock Gunnel

Tiny Rock Gunnel

Dive #358 & 359: Surface conditions looked great, so we geared up, hopped in, and headed over to the west wall. We hit the shallows in hopes of finding Placida dendritica on the green algae, but despite combing over every stalk, I didn't find a single one. Not too long into the dive, I noticed my camera housing was filling with water, so I put it up in the dive float and continued on the dive. We cruised down the wall and found an excellent variety of nudis, including a bunch of white hairy spiny doris of good size and a ton of rim-backed nudis. We didn't make it very far out before we were chilled and had to turn around. During the surface interval, I wiped down the camera housing o-ring and dunked the housing in the shallow water between dives and it didn't appear to be leaking, so I brought the camera on dive #2. Unfortunately, there was a ton of condensation on the inside of the housing, but it didn't seem to be affecting the photos too much. We headed out the right side, but did a lot of weaving and took a bunch of photos so we didn't get very far. Highlights included a Dendronotus frondosus and a tiny red rock gunnel that was surprisingly cooperative. A chilly, but fun dive day!
