Okenia ascidicola

Black sea bass

Doto formosa

Sleep cod

New England dive #200! With some solid cloud cover, we enjoyed the cooler temperatures as we geared up. Once we hit the water, we headed out to the pinnacle to go see what was going on. Along the way, we saw a few small flounder, TONS of rock crabs, and the tops of the large rocks were all coated with tiny mussels. I saw a single sea lemon, one Dendrontous frondosus, and one Okenia ascidicola to round out the nudi sightings. This was a nice chill, dive. This time we headed out to the pinnacle and took a right to go find the overhang rocks. I didn't go far enough right at the pinnacle, so we ended up off in no man's land where it dropped down to 40 feet and got chilly. I was checking under rocks and spotted a huge eye - upon further inspection, it was a cod head which was a very odd sight. Later on the dive, I spotted a live cod. It was quite skittish, so I didn't get a great pic but it was surprising to see something so large. I also spotted some Doto formosa, a few zebra lebbeids, and a school of sand lance or silversides as I was surfacing at the end of the dive. Another good one!
