Dive 469 & 470: Used my Recharge Friday time to head out on the Cape Ann Dive II for a few dips at BFW. We waited for the boat to return from their morning trip, loaded up, and headed out. I got all geared up, hopped in the water and instantly felt cold water on my hand. Sure enough, I had a leak coming from the o-ring sealing my dry glove. So that was cold, but on we went! We ran a line, but we didn't really need it - we were anchored on a crack that wove its way out to the wall, so nav was easy. As we cruised out, I spotted a few northern reds, a few rock gunnels, a few scarlet psolus, and after my eyes adjusted, tons of Flabellinas and Dotos with many pairs mating. At one point, my buddy pointed something out to me and I stared where he was pointing and couldn't see it...and then the large sculpin a few feet from me moved and I felt really silly. This is a nice spot! I traded out my wet dry gloves for wet gloves and we hopped in for a second dive. I was pretty chilled already since my entire body was soaked from the glove leak on my first dive. We cruised the crack again and saw lots more nudis mating and more northern reds. While we were hanging at our safety stop, I managed to fire off two solid bubble rings (out of many attempts), but I was dancing at my success. All in all, a very nice day on the water.
