The cove was jamming! We geared up and headed in just as Asli and Ed were exiting. As soon as I stuck my face in the water, I spotted a tiny octopus in the water column. Fortunately, I had the camera ready, so I was able to snap some shots as it drifted to the bottom and crawled around. Thirty seconds into the dive and I already had an awesome find! We cruised the left side for awhile seeing tons of tiny fish in the sand, a few skates, and then a massive coronetfish before I spotted the first octopus of the dive. It was perched on a rock and then proceeded to take us on a journey around the cove. It was totally silted out, so photography was hard, but it was fun to interact with a bigger octopus for awhile. After we parted ways with the large octopus, we found ourselves swimming south with the rocks on the right, so we popped up to see where we were - sure enough, far right side. As we dropped down, I spotted a little octopus peeking out of its den. As soon as I hit it with the light it ducked down. We took a few pics and kept moving. We came across an abandoned lobster trap and I was about to look inside when I spotted a tiny octopus perched on a rock. We moved on from the little octopus and right on the other side of the lobster trap was a massive red sea hare. The thing was bigger than my hand, but we had to go so I snapped a few pics and on we went. Yet another awesome dive at Fort Wetherill, but the water is cooling down quickly.
